Daily Responsibilities & Role Overview 

As a transcription typist with DAATS, you’ll be responsible for producing accurate, professional transcripts from audio recordings across a range of specialist fields. Your daily work will include:

• Audio transcription – Converting recorded files into clean, formatted text using industry-standard software 
• Accuracy verification – Proofreading transcripts for grammar, spelling, and technical terminology accuracy 
• Format compliance – Ensuring documents meet client specifications and delivery requirements 
• Turnaround time management – Delivering high-quality work within agreed timelines, often with fast service requirements

Our transcription typists work with diverse content across insurance claims, legal proceedings, medical reports, research interviews, and media projects. Applicants must reside in Australia and demonstrate strong attention to detail, a fast typing speed (minimum 80 wpm), and familiarity with industry-specific terminology relevant to their area of specialisation.

Experience Pathways & Qualifications 

We require a minimum of 3 years current digital transcription experience as our primary qualification. However, we recognise that experience comes in different forms:

• Direct transcription experience – 3+ years professional digital transcription work (insurance, legal, media, research, medical) 
• Professional transcription diploma – Recognised transcription qualifications can support experience credentials 
• Specialisation expertise – Deep knowledge in specific industries (legal, medical, insurance, research) valued highly 
• Typing proficiency – Minimum 80wpm demonstrated typing speed, with accuracy testing as part of application
